Nine boxers are currently in the final stages of preparation for the Men’s Boxing World Championships, to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 1-14 May.
The team arrived in Kazakhstan on 20 April for an international training camp and will head to Tashkent on 29 April.
This is the first World Championships campaign for all boxers, with Australia last sending a Men’s team in 2019. Three of the 2023 team members competed at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham – Charlie Senior, Billy McAllister, and notably Callum Peters, who took home silver and subsequently the 2022 CombatAUS Breakthrough Performance Award and Boxing Athlete of the Year.
After two competitions in Europe in February and a seven-day camp in early April, the team is primed and ready to perform on the international stage.
Kirra Ruston (80kg), currently relocating from Perth to Brisbane, was named Team Captain during the April training camp.
